Here at DeMeritt Hill Stables, we take a lot of pride in keeping our pastures in the best possible shape. This means we spend a considerable amount of time maintaining them! We maintain the pastures by removing rocks, reseeding (when necessary), fertilizing and keeping our fencing in top shape.
In June of 2009, we added an our largest pasture. It is located at the top of the orchard and overlooks the entire property. We are also looking forward to adding additional pastures in the near future.
All of the pastures have individual gate entrances which allows easy access to each horse. Inside each paddock, we offer running water and a hose for convienence. In July of 2009, we completely upgraded all of the fences throughout the property. The fences were replaced with electrobraid (.25") fencing and are now jumper height. The electric fence is completely harmless and emits an extremely low amperage. This makes it one of the safest horse fences available on the market today. Click here to visit their website.
Many of our pastures include shelters where horses can get out of the wind or sudden change in weather. Additional shelters are being constructed as well. All of our pastures are extremely close in proximity to the barns and riding arenas and provide picturesque views of the farm. Many are only steps away from some of the apple trees! This allows us to keep an eye on what matters most (your horse)!
